Before becoming a first-generation college student, I was aware of how difficult my educational journey would become, as I had no guidance. I also knew I would not have much financial aid from my family due to our circumstances, so I sought to mitigate that issue by applying for several scholarships and grants. Being awarded scholarships, such as the Kids’ Chance of California scholarship, not only allows me to focus most of my efforts toward school, but it also relieves stress from my family.  I am greatly appreciative and honored to be selected as a recipient of this scholarship and to have the ability to focus solely on my education.
