My father passed away when I was young due to a work-related accident. It was not until later that I realized the impact that his death had on my family. As I approached the end of high school, I applied to various universities and finally got accepted to my dream university. I didn’t fully grasp the cost of higher education until my freshman year, which I was just barely able to afford. It was not until I found out about Kids’ Chance of California, which offered scholarships for kids who have had a work-related death in the family. Thanks to their help, I will be graduating Spring 2026 with a degree in environmental engineering.
Their help gave me the opportunity to explore my interests, without focusing on how I will afford the next semester. This has directly led to my internship for the City of San Diego, and just recently, the passing of my fundamentals of engineering exam for environmental engineers. Words cannot express how grateful I am for this wonderful opportunity; Kids’ Chance changed my life.
