I just want to start off by expressing my gratitude for receiving this scholarship. My father’s truck accident during my freshman year of high school shattered me. He underwent countless surgeries to repair his body to somewhat what it was before the accident. I am forever grateful he is still alive today and able to experience the rest of my milestones in life. It was after my father’s truck accident that I realized I wanted to become a nurse. I learned that, without much knowledge in the medical field, it was hard to interpret the medical terms whenever my father’s doctor would call to update us on his well-being in the hospital. I knew I wanted to help others and provide the same care my father received in the hospital.

Thanks to the Kids’ Chance of California Scholarship, I can take the courses I need at Cal State Fullerton, bringing me one step closer to becoming a nurse. This scholarship has motivated me to pursue my degree and inspired me to strive for academic excellence.
